Tips on growing nails. Before and after pictures.

I used to be a nail biter. Gross, I know! But it's a habit that's very common around the world, and I know I wasn't alone. When your nervous, bored or even watching TV you find yourself chewing the little amount of nails on your fingertips. Well, STOP IT!

Around a year ago I decided enough was enough. I hated having short, weak and see through nails. I wanted to be able to paint them pretty colours and designs like I saw on the YouTube video's I loved watching. So I went online and bought a few nail treatments/polishes to help me along the way to long, luscious, healthy nails!

The tips I'm going to write down below might not work for everyone, nor may they be the 'right' way. This is just what I did. It was easy, affordable and realistic. The most important thing however, is stop biting your nails. It will take some time and some possible slips at times. Just like any other habbit.

What I did.

Moisturise nails and cuticles. This helped with peeling and softened my cuticles.

ALWAYS wear a base/top coat/strengthener. If I don't, my nails will break easier. Especially in water. Protect your nails!

Only file nails when needed. Don't put your nails through unnecessary filing. if they don't need a sharp edge filing away, leave it. Filing can weaken your nails. As can buffing.

Use nail clippers to clip off any peeling edges. This may sound odd to clip off your nails as they grow, but for me it worked. If i let them grow whilst they was splitting or peeling, it would just make the peeling go further down my nail and damage it more. You need to grow out the unhealthy edges of your nails to get to the new, nourished healthy nails. Trust me.

Products I reccomend:
Lush 'Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter'. This has been a firm favorite since the beginning for me. It's huge too!
Sally Hansen 'Nail Protex' I found mine online. I haven't found it in stores.
Sally Hanen 'Triple Strong' This was one of the first things I used. Again, I can't find this in stores. Try Ebay!
OPI 'Nail Envy'. Everyone loves this. It's just amazing. really helps strengthen your nails.
Boot's Nail polish remover. It's only £1 and it doesn't dry out my nails. My favorite remover.

Now for the proof!

The purple colour is: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 'Raspberry Race'.
